A TRIBUTE TO VETERANS

This week, our nation will express appreciation to the veterans who have sacrificed a part of their life to military service. Many of these brave men and women carry the weight of difficult memories, wounded bodies and emotional scars with them every waking moment. Some suffer horrific nightmares, as sleep eludes them, causing them to get no rest day or night.

How much does the nation owe these heroes? Well, let me just put it this way: Not one should ever be poor; not one should ever be without superb medical help; not one should be homeless; not one should be forgotten. The importance of our military men and women to the safety and security of this country ranks at the highest level, IMO.

Our country (Congress!!) gorges on the excesses of “pork” projects and special interest spending. Too many lawmakers (spenders) are focused on fat-cat living and too few are focused on providing for the needs of our veterans. When projects like “The Bridge To Nowhere” in Alaska can be foisted on the taxpayers something is dreadfully wrong. When two-bit dictators and anti-American countries get finances from our national treasury – and political slick tricks are used to hide handouts to outlaw regimes … something is dreadfully wrong. Whether it is Republican or Democrat politicians who squander our nation’s wealth – it is wrong!

I would choose to guarantee the financial stability of our nation’s military men and women before I would spend another dime on other countries. I wouldn’t give a nickel in military aid to American hating countries while too many of our veterans languish in poverty and ill health.

Leftist politicians and educators have poisoned the minds of a large segment of our population relating to the military. The hateful ACLU, with it’s anti-American bias and perverted mindset, has succeeded in forcing many schools to forbid a military presence on campuses across America. The influence of these Marxists personalities results in mockery and derision being focused on our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and others who gallantly serve this country.

Lawmakers talk about “Hate Speech.” Well, if I had my way, the filthy rhetoric and derisive slandering of our brave military personnel would qualify as hate speech and those doing it would be thrown in jail!! And, adequately fined – the sum of which would go directly to the military person being slandered.

If you are a veteran, I want to thank you for your service to this country, to me and my family. I will never speak ill of you or your service nor will I ever allow anyone in my presence to get by with slandering you. You are the best as far as I am concerned!

I pray you are blessed today.

In Christ's love and life,

Roland Scroggins
