DON'T BE A "BROKEN TOOTH"

The Book of Proverbs has many unique and interesting sayings. If you have read or heard someone read the book you know what I mean.

One of the many imaginative parables is where Solomon described the futility and pain of trusting in someone who has proven to be untrustworthy. It's in the 25th Chapter, Verse 19: "Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint."

How do you like that for being descriptive?

The idea of a broken tooth or a disjointed foot conjures up real pain in my mind. I've experienced the tooth one and don't want to experience the foot one. Ouch!!

In a spiritual way, this depicts the suffering and sense of futility we feel when we put our trust in unfaithful people. We want so much to believe they will come through but we wind up with disappointment and pain.

What's the solution? Learn who is faithful and trust in them. Put the others aside until God has been able to do a true work in their heart.

Until God has changed them - don't trust them. It's that simple.

Unless you enjoy pain! But, remember: broken tooth/ sprained foot! You have been warned!

I pray the Lord blesses you today.

Warmly, in His love and life,
