PRACTICE!!!
Over the years I've attended many piano recitals – due to my wife being a piano teacher. Janet encouraged me to attend yet another one which featured advanced students. I must say that it was an enjoyable experience. The students played their selections flawlessly.
Now, as I said, I've attended lots of recitals! I have heard all kinds of “music” as students do their best at their particular level of ability. Young or older they always played to their level of ability.
As I thought about that fact, I wondered what changes their level of ability? Is it parental threat or coercion? Is it pure luck? Is it trickery or subterfuge by the teacher?
And then, the tuning fork sounded in my head! The change in ability comes from diligence in practice. In other words - Hard Work! Every student's ability advances in direct proportion to their level of diligent practice.
This truth struck a resounding chord in my mind. If this is true in music, why would it not be true in other areas of life - such as being a victorious Christian. Why are some so advanced in their Christian life and others seem to lag far behind in Christian living?
I think the answer is right there on the keyboard. It all comes down to diligent --- "Practice! Practice!! Practice!!!"
